The Madam Foo Foo Story

The Madam Foo Foo Story

Lisa Lake-Roedemeier founded her hat design company in 2009. The company is named for one of her race horses, Madam Foo Foo, who had a nice racing career and retired to a Mississippi plantation. One of the driving forces behind the creation of the company was Lisa’s desire to help fund thoroughbred rescue and retirement.

Lisa began designing hats for the iconic Brown Hotel in 2013. Her original designs can be found year-round in the hotel gift shop. She also does customs from her home studio.

Lisa’s clients can choose from a collection of original hat designs, FOOscinators, and FOOdoras. Or, Lisa can custom design a piece especially for you. Both ladies’ and gentlemen’s styles are available.

Madam Foo Foo Couture designs are worn at racetracks nationwide. From Del Mar, California to Churchill Downs and Keeneland in Kentucky, and Saratoga Springs, New York, Madam Foo Foo Couture designs stand out in the crowd. Madam Foo Foo Couture is also well-represented each June at the most prestigious race meet in the world, Royal Ascot in England.

When a lady purchases a Madam Foo Foo Couture design, she automatically becomes a “FOO Sister” and is welcomed into the Sisterhood of The FOO.

Lisa taught psychology at two universities before moving to Louisville in the early 1990s. She hosted a horse racing radio show and is currently the horse racing writer for Sports View America.

Clients often benefit from Lisa’s ability to match a design with their personality. And, she even provides a bit of wagering advice when asked!

Lisa lives in Prospect, Kentucky with her husband Gary, her rescue shih-tzu Jaxson Browne, her cat Sweet Georgia Brown (aka “George”), and several outdoor spayed/neutered and vaccinated stray cats.  She has one son, and two beautiful, hat-loving grandchildren.
